About us

From our London studio, we offer the full range of RIBA-accredited architectural and interior design services; from feasibility studies right through to overseeing works on-site. We work closely with our discerning clients to craft every detail of their projects, creating exceptional quality, happy homes and a hassle-free experience.

Carta Nova is led by founder Evelina Vatzeva, an architect and designer with over 15 years experience working to European design standards in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Eva is supported by our talented technician Arup Saha, and our lovely assistant Lara Reid.

We know our way around London’s particular planning requirements and work with local and national heritage and conservation bodies. We work with trusted contractors and suppliers, and top quality trades and craftspeople.

We believe that good design inspires the lifestyle you want, while taking care of the practical things you need… and it all starts with a simple sketch on a piece of paper: a carta nova.

Architecture

We offer the full range of architectural services that follow the RIBA Plan Of Work. From feasibility studies and concept design, right through to managing construction and communication on site, and finally handing over the finished project.

Interior design

Our holistic approach to architecture and interior design creates a seamless connection between inside and outside, and we work in close partnership with our clients to bring their vision to reality. We draw on our established relationships with quality suppliers and specialist trades and craftspeople to source joinery, lighting, bathroom and hardware fittings and fixtures.

Evelina Vatzeva, Eva Vatzeva Architect, London-based, German, RIBA, BYAK

I’ve been an architect and designer for over 15 years. My journey started in Bulgaria, where I grew up inspired by the monumental 1950s' Eastern European architecture and traditional Bulgarian houses. I moved to Darmstadt, Germany to train as an architect and designer, then worked in Munich and Lausanne in Switzerland, before moving to London in 2015. During this time I worked for well-regarded practices. I learnt to work with historic buildings in a loving and respectful way that conforms to modern standards. I developed my exploratory creative skills, and rounded out my experience working with a wide range of clients, from private homeowners to £ multi-million developments.

Today my pan-European influences inspire my versatile approach to design and understanding of how architecture impacts our relationships.

I am inspired every day by European aesthetics, Bauhaus and Swiss design. Every project is unique; both beautiful and challenging in its own way. Discovering the perfect design solution and transforming it into an inspirational space is an incredible process that I love to share with my clients.

I believe that a good education is the best way to get out of the trenches in life, and for the past five years I have been honoured to teach first-year architecture students at the University of Greenwich.
