Coburg Hall of Residence
What we did:
The competition brief was to design a new building extension to the existing hall of residence at the University of Coburg. The new build was supposed to offer accommodation for 80 students and was to be placed in the space between two existing buildings. The challenge was to design the new build such that it would not impede foot traffic between campus and the adjoining car park.
Our design contained a high-rising structure to powerfully catch the eye and a seemingly floating lower building.
The high structure served as the main entrance to all residences while the new floating building provided a bridge between the existing houses and allowed for a clear view to the west.
Our design created an intersection for many commonly used paths creating high spatial quality for the new center and student life.
